How a transfer happens

Pair once with a QR code or a short code — after that your devices recognize each other, and files move straight between them.

They don't need the app

Share a link and they download in the browser — no install, no account, straight from your device.

Built for transfers. Not uploads.

Private by defaultYour files only ever exist on the two devices involved. Nothing is written anywhere in between.
Encrypted end to endFresh keys for every session, held only by your devices. The secret never leaves your OS keychain.
Open sourceThe client is Apache-2.0. Verify it instead of trusting us.
Send anythingA quick text note, a single file, or a whole folder — a 1 KB snippet and a 200 GB project move the same way.
As fast as your networkDirect device-to-device, so speed is whatever your connection gives — no upload queue, no throttling tier.
Send to your devicesPair your own devices once with a QR code. After that they recognize each other automatically — send between them anytime, no re-scanning.

FAQs

Why use AlterSend if there are other tools?

Because each alternative makes you trade something away. AirDrop only works between Apple devices. WeTransfer uploads and stores your files, capped at 2 GB free. LocalSend and Snapdrop only work on the same network. AlterSend keeps what's good about each without the tradeoff: cross-platform, unlimited size, no cloud storage, and it works over the internet just as easily as on your Wi-Fi.
